Marketing and Communications Internship

The Marketing and Communications Intern will directly report to the Communications Manager to support the team's marketing, branding, and communication goals. This internship opportunity will provide hands-on experience working on diverse projects in these domains and support you in developing new skills and expanding your network. Though this is an unpaid internship, students will receive valuable skills and are eligible for collegiate credit at participating schools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of communication and marketing materials

  • Write content for emails, marketing materials, newsletters, and press releases

  • Manage document and file organization

  • Follow up with vendors and stakeholders

  • Assist in the coordination of events, logistics, and other related tasks

  • Participate in team and brainstorming sessions

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

  • Pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a relevant field

  • Any experience in marketing and communications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to work independently and with a team

Community Outreach Internship

The Community Outreach Intern will be responsible for working with our Communications Manager and Community Outreach Coordinator to support outreach efforts throughout the Miami-Dade community. This internship opportunity will provide hands-on experience in designing outreach events, coordinating with schools and conducting outreach, and other related tasks within the district. Though this is an unpaid internship, students will receive valuable skills and are eligible for collegiate credit at participating schools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of outreach activities and events

  • Serve as Assistant Tournament Coordinator for 2 debate tournaments (one Saturday in January and February).

  • Manage outreach calendar and communications with partner schools

  • Assist in coordination of outreach presentations and workshops

  • Attend special events and represent the MDUDL

  • Support the Communications team in designing newsletters, emails and other communications for outreach purposes

  • Participate in team and brainstorming sessions

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

  • Pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a relevant field

  • Any experience in community outreach

Junior Debate Instructor

Junior Debate Interns will work directly with the Debate Manager, providing assistance in coaching, research, tournament preparation and help with running tournaments. The intern will also serve as a mentor to debaters as well as the opportunity to host league-wide trainings and develop content. The Debate Internship Program provides an opportunity for students to develop their debate and mentorship skills while empowering students in the Miami-Dade community. Though this is an unpaid internship, students will receive valuable skills and are eligible for collegiate credit at participating schools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in debate training sessions for students and coaches within the MDUDL

  • Provide mentorship to students in debate and tournament preparation

  • Help to research and prepare debate-related topics

  • Serve as a judge or moderator in debate tournaments

  • Work with the Debate Manager to develop content for debate workshops

  • Participate in team and brainstorming sessions

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

  • Pursuing a degree in Communications, Political Science or a related field

  • Experience in debate, coaching or a related field

  • Strong communication and mentorship skills

  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to work independently and with a team

  • Must have a background in Policy Debate
