Redland Middle & Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School Win Top Honors at Countywide Debate Tournament

Miami, FL – September 15, 2025 — The Miami-Dade Urban Debate League (MDUDL) successfully launched its 2025–2026 season this past weekend with the Shubin Law Group Policy Debate Season Opener, welcoming more than 130 students, coaches, and community members from 10 schools across the county. The event brough

t together students eager to showcase their research, public speaking, and advocacy skills, with guest judges including attorneys from the Shubin Law Group.

Redland Middle School captured first place in the middle school division, while Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School earned top honors in the high school division, each demonstrating exceptional preparation, critical thinking, and teamwork.

“This tournament reflects a true investment in our students’ futures,” said Kalyn Lee, Program Director of MDUDL. “Thanks to Shubin Law Group and our community partners, more young people will gain the skills and confidence to succeed in school, college, and beyond.”

The season opener marks the beginning of a year filled with tournaments and workshops designed to expand debate opportunities across Miami-Dade. The Miami-Dade Urban Debate League remains committed to its mission of empowering students of all backgrounds through debate, building leadership, advocacy, and lifelong success.
